Tropical Depression Nine Could Become Hurricane Isaias
Tropical Depression Nine has formed in the southern Gulf of Mexico and is expected to strengthen into Tropical Storm Isaias by Wednesday, with further intensification into a hurricane by Thursday, according to the National Hurricane Center (CBS News, 2026-10-06). The system is projected to move northward, potentially impacting the Gulf Coast this weekend. Rainfall from the storm is expected to extend into the Southeast and possibly reach the Ohio Valley and Northeast by midweek next week. The Atlantic hurricane season, which ends on November 30, has so far seen eight named storms, with this system potentially becoming the ninth.
