Tanker Truck Overturns on Maine Turnpike After Collision with Disabled SUV, Causing Traffic Diversions
A tanker truck overturned on the Maine Turnpike in Falmouth after colliding with a disabled SUV. The incident occurred around 2:35 a.m. near mile marker 56 in the southbound lanes. According to the Maine State Police, the SUV had lost power and stopped in the travel lane. The tractor-trailer tanker attempted to move into the right lane to avoid the stationary SUV but struck its rear passenger side, pushing it towards the median. Following the impact, the tractor-trailer tipped over onto its right side. Emergency services transported the driver and passenger of the SUV, along with the driver of the tractor-trailer, to Maine Medical Center in Portland for evaluation. No serious injuries were reported. A small amount of diesel fuel leaked from the tanker, prompting a response from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.
