Accused Serial Squatter Occupies $1.1 Million Home in Queens, New York
Residents of Bayside, Queens, are expressing outrage over an alleged serial squatter, Vernon Glass, who has reportedly occupied a $1.1 million home in their neighborhood for over two years. The property became vacant after the elderly homeowner, Richard Klibschon, passed away in 2018. Neighbors first noticed Glass in March 2024 and have since attempted to evict him through police reports, contacting elected officials, and legal action, but without success. Glass has been described in court papers as an 'illegal occupant,' and his presence has caused apprehension among residents. This is not the first instance of Glass allegedly engaging in such activities; he is accused of a similar scam in Nassau County, Long Island, in 2018, where he changed locks and rented out a vacant home, leading to a five-year probation sentence. He was also reportedly involved in taking over a home in Flushing 'by force' before the legitimate homeowners dropped their suit due to foreclosure.
