Northeast Braces for Season’s Coldest Air and Possible Snow
The Northeast will see a brief autumn warmup before a storm brings the season’s coldest air so far late this week and into the weekend. Temperatures could fall into the 30s across higher elevations, with overnight lows in the 20s possible in northern New York, Vermont and New Hampshire. Rain and gusty winds of 35 to 45 mph are expected, while the Adirondacks and Green and White Mountains could see the season’s first snowflakes, with little or no accumulation. Strong winds and wet weather may also knock down fall leaves, disrupt foliage viewing and make roads slippery. Conditions are forecast to improve by Sunday.
