Chautauqua County Remembers Flight Attendant Amy King on 9/11 Anniversary

Chautauqua County, New York, is remembering Amy King, a United Airlines flight attendant who died in the September 11, 2001, attacks. King was on the second plane that struck the South Tower of the World Trade Center. County executive PJ Wendel, who grew up with King, emphasized the importance of keeping her memory alive for future generations. King was an accomplished track and cross-country athlete at Southwestern High School in West Ellicott. Memorials dedicated to her include one outside her high school, another at Lucille Ball Memorial Park in Celeron, and Amy King's Playground at her hometown YMCA in Lakewood. The YMCA's annual Amy King Run will be rebranded as the Amy King Memorial Turkey Trot 5K and moved to Thanksgiving Day in Jamestown, aiming to connect remembrance with family gatherings.
