Flood Mitigation Projects Funded in Central Pennsylvania
SEDA-Council of Governments (SEDA-COG) has secured $475,000 in funding through the Local Share Account (LSA) Statewide program to support two critical projects in Montour and Columbia counties, Pennsylvania. The funding will be used to enhance public safety and reduce flood risks in the region. Montour County will receive $225,000 to develop a countywide emergency warning system equipped with rain gauges, stream gauges, cameras, and audible alerts to improve emergency preparedness. Columbia County will receive $250,000 for the benched floodplain phase of the West End Flood Mitigation Project, which aims to reduce flooding along Fishing Creek in Bloomsburg and Hemlock Township. These initiatives are part of broader efforts to protect residents, businesses, and infrastructure from recurring flood events.
