Ryan Smith Appointed Principal of Ferndale Lower Elementary, Emphasizing Educational Equity
Ryan Smith has been appointed as the new principal of Ferndale Lower Elementary School, effective August 3, 2026. With nearly two decades of experience in education, Smith has previously served as a teacher and principal in various districts. His leadership is characterized by a focus on cultivating strong relationships, implementing restorative practices, and advancing educational equity. Smith's educational background includes degrees from Western Michigan University, Michigan State University, and Wayne State University, along with a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from Harvard University. Camille Hibbler, superintendent of Ferndale Public Schools, expressed enthusiasm for Smith's appointment, highlighting his alignment with the district's values and the needs of the Ferndale Lower community.
