Family Friends Fest Founder Takes Responsibility for Brown Deer Park Cleanup Issues
Luis Vasquez, one of the organizers of the Family & Friends Fest in Milwaukee, has publicly acknowledged and taken responsibility for the significant amount of trash and debris left behind in Brown Deer Park after the recent event. The festival, which aims to build community, faced criticism from the Friends of Brown Deer Park, a volunteer group that spent 11 hours cleaning up the park. Photos posted by the volunteer group showed widespread litter, food, balloons, and hot coals. Vasquez stated that while organizers stayed after the event to clean, darkness made it difficult to collect all the trash. He also mentioned that they had requested additional trash cans but were provided with garbage bags instead. Despite these efforts, some areas were missed, leading to the current situation. Vasquez emphasized that organizers are committed to improving cleanup efforts for future events.
