Houston-Area Schools Set to Begin 2026-27 Academic Year in August
As summer break comes to an end, students across the Houston area are preparing to return to school for the 2026-27 academic year. Several school districts, including Houston ISD, Fort Bend ISD, and Lamar CISD, will begin classes during the second week of August. Other districts, such as Aldine ISD and Katy ISD, will start later in the month. Parents are encouraged to check with their child's school for specific schedules, bus routes, and orientation events. The return to school is expected to increase traffic near campuses and major roadways, and drivers are reminded to adhere to school zone speed limits and stop for school buses.
