State Department Assists Georgia Man Facing 15-Year Sentence in Jamaica
Igor Andrusceak, a Georgia resident, faces a potential 15-year prison sentence in Jamaica after inadvertently carrying 30 rounds of ammunition in his backpack during a family vacation. The State Department has confirmed that U.S. Embassy staff are providing consular assistance. Andrusceak claims the ammunition was accidentally left in his bag, which passed through TSA screening undetected. Jamaica's strict firearms laws mandate severe penalties for unauthorized possession of ammunition. The case has been transferred to Jamaica's Gun Court, and Andrusceak is currently out on bond, awaiting further legal proceedings.
