Georgia Man Charged with Theft After Allegedly Defrauding Homeowners of $50,000 for Unbuilt Pools
Richard McDermott, a north Georgia man, is facing theft charges after allegedly defrauding two Forsyth County homeowners of at least $50,000. According to arrest warrants obtained by Channel 2 Action News, McDermott was hired to build swimming pools for the two homeowners. In each instance, he received at least $25,000 from the victims. However, instead of constructing the pools as agreed, McDermott reportedly used the money for his personal use. The alleged incidents occurred between November and December 2022 and continued through April of the following year. McDermott has been charged with two counts of theft by conversion and pleaded not guilty earlier this month.
