Nunez Community College Expands Heavy Equipment Training to Meet Industry Demand
Nunez Community College in Chalmette, Louisiana, is expanding its heavy equipment certification programs to address the growing demand for skilled trades in the region. The college's Workforce Division will offer a series of short-term certification programs this fall, including a flagship Heavy Equipment program that covers a range of construction equipment such as aerial lifts, bulldozers, and excavators. The program also includes certifications in AED, CPR, and first aid. Scheduled sessions for the Heavy Equipment program will run from August 3 to September 11 and October 5 to November 13, with classes held Monday through Thursday. Additionally, Nunez will offer a Powered Industrial Trucking (PIT) program and one-day forklift certification classes. These programs are part of Nunez's broader workforce development efforts to provide industry-recognized certifications and prepare participants for careers in construction, manufacturing, and logistics.
