Heat Advisory Issued for Georgia as Heat Index Reaches Dangerous Levels
Georgia is experiencing a surge in summer heat, with a Heat Advisory in effect for metro Atlanta and much of north Georgia on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. The advisory is active from noon to 8 p.m., as high temperatures combined with humidity are expected to push heat index values between 105°F (40.6°C) and 111°F (43.9°C). Cities such as Augusta and Savannah are forecasted to feel the most intense heat, with heat indices reaching 111°F (43.9°C) and 110°F (43.3°C), respectively. Actual air temperatures will range from the upper 90s°F (32.2°C) to near 100°F (37.8°C), but the humidity will make conditions feel significantly hotter. The National Weather Service warns of increased risks of heat-related illnesses due to the oppressive conditions.
