Baltimore Region Faces Severe Weather Threats and High Heat Through Thursday
The Baltimore region is under a weather alert from Tuesday through Thursday due to a combination of high heat, humidity, and severe storm chances. On Tuesday, temperatures are expected to reach the mid-90s, with morning temperatures in the 70s and partly sunny skies. A few showers and thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon. The humidity will increase throughout the week, with heat index values potentially exceeding 100 degrees, and possibly reaching up to 106 degrees by Thursday. Dew points are forecast to be 70 degrees or higher from Tuesday through Friday. While Tuesday has a possible but unlikely severe weather threat (level 1 out of 5) mainly for damaging winds, Wednesday and Thursday have a higher probability of severe storms. The severe thunderstorm threat for Wednesday and Thursday is at a level 2 out of 5, indicating that severe winds of 60 mph or greater are likely in certain areas. Highs will remain in the 90s until Friday, with cooler and drier air expected for the weekend.
