Vermont Man Charged Federally for Threatening President Trump
Keegan Lagasse, a 21-year-old man from Richford, Vermont, has been federally charged with threatening to kill President Trump. Lagasse appeared in federal court in Burlington, where a judge ordered him to remain in custody. The charge stems from an online tip sent to the FBI on August 24, in which Lagasse allegedly stated, “I’m gonna kill trump.” Federal agents traced the tip to Lagasse using phone and IP addresses. This is not an isolated incident, as court filings indicate Lagasse has a history of making threats against schools and businesses in northern Vermont since 2023. These past threats include bomb threats to schools in Richford and Essex in 2023, a threat to blow up and shoot people at a St. Albans motel in February 2024, and threats against a convenience store and Richford High School in September and November 2024. In November 2025, Lagasse also reportedly told the FBI National Threat Operations Center that he planned to use an explosive device on the White House and kill President Trump.
