Londonderry Rail Trail Expansion Project Aims for 2028 Connection with Derry Rail Trail
The Londonderry Rail Trail is projected to connect with the Derry Rail Trail by 2028, as reported by Londonderry Trailways members Sandy Lagueux and Bob Rimol during an update to the Town Council on August 17. The project involves engineers from CMA, an NH-based consulting firm, who are currently surveying the land and finalizing the design. The total cost for the extension to Derry is estimated at $640,000. Funding sources include a federal grant of $422,000, $105,000 approved by town residents through property tax funding, and Londonderry Trailways' commitment to raise $113,000. The organization has been actively fundraising, securing several donations from local businesses and residents, including a significant $50,000 grant from the New Balance Foundation.
