Two Killed in Wrong-Way Motorcycle Accident on Interstate 74 in Knoxville
Two individuals were killed in a motorcycle accident on Interstate 74 in Knoxville, Illinois, on Sunday morning. The incident occurred around 2:13 a.m. when a motorcycle collided with a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction on the interstate. According to Illinois State Police and the Knox County Coroner's Office, both the driver and passenger of the motorcycle were ejected and sustained injuries incompatible with life, being pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was transported to OSF HealthCare St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. Knox County Coroner Jacque Dare stated that more information, including the victims' identities, would be released on Monday. The westbound lane of I-74 was shut down for several hours and reopened around 8 a.m. Sunday.
