Driver Claims Self-Defense in Nashville Road Rage Shooting, No Charges Filed Yet
A road rage incident in Nashville on Friday resulted in a shooting that left one man in critical condition, but no charges have been filed as the investigation continues. According to Metro Nashville Police, the incident occurred on I-24 East near Spring Street. Hayden Foster, 36, from Alabama, reported that after he passed Regino Rodriguez Perez, 43, Perez began tailgating him and flashing his bright lights. Both vehicles eventually stopped in the far left lane near Spring Street. Foster stated that Perez exited his vehicle with his right hand behind his back, at which point Foster shot him. Perez then drove himself to St. Thomas Hospital Midtown and was later transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition. Police recovered a .22-caliber handgun from Foster's vehicle, along with four casings and a knife at the scene. The case has been discussed with the District Attorney's Office, but no charges have been filed yet.
