Meanwhile, showers and thunderstorms are forecast around the perimeter of the heat dome, affecting regions in the West, Midwest, northern Plains, and Southeast. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued heat advisories for large portions of the Mississippi, Ohio, and Tennessee Valleys. Additionally, flash flooding risks are heightened in Texas due to heavy rainfall from Tropical Storm Edouard, which has weakened to a tropical depression.
