Fisk University Unveils Statue Honoring Justice A. A. Birch, Jr. During National Bar Association Event
Fisk University recently held a statue unveiling and dedication ceremony to honor Justice Adolpho A. Birch, Jr. The event took place in Jubilee Hall's Appleton Room and was part of the National Bar Association's 101st Annual Convention in Nashville. Justice Birch, a trailblazer in the legal field, was the first African American to serve at every level of Tennessee's judiciary, including as Chief Justice of the Tennessee Supreme Court. The ceremony included musical performances and reflections on Justice Birch's impact on Fisk students. Dr. Agenia Walker Clark, President of Fisk University, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to honor Justice Birch's legacy.
