Troy Carter, a Democrat from Louisiana, and U.S. Rep. Mike Ezell, a Republican from Mississippi, are among the lawmakers championing this legislation. The bill also includes a provision requiring the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to engage with insurance companies to mandate specific credits for homeowners who implement fortified improvements, thereby incentivizing disaster-resilient construction.
