Walmart Launches Rural Health Ambassador Pilot Program to Expand Pharmacist Support
Walmart has initiated a six-month pilot program to introduce a new 'Health Ambassador' role for pharmacists in five rural U.S. stores. This program aims to leverage the accessibility of Walmart locations and the trusted relationships pharmacists have with their communities to connect customers with health and wellness resources. The pilot will be conducted in stores located in Lexington, Tennessee; Caro, Michigan; Franklin, Virginia; Fort Scott, Kansas; and Searcy, Arkansas. Health Ambassadors will assist patients in understanding their health goals and guide them to relevant services and resources. Initially, the program will concentrate on three key healthcare areas: diabetes, weight management, and maternal health. Additionally, Health Ambassadors will provide in-person conversations and tailored coaching to customers on nutrition, movement, sleep, and stress management.
