Tennessee Court Upholds Full Confinement for Darrell Aaron Cox in DUI Case
The Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals has upheld a decision by the Cumberland County Criminal Court to impose a sentence of full confinement on Darrell Aaron Cox for his sixth offense of driving under the influence (DUI). Cox had appealed the sentence, arguing that the trial court erred by denying all forms of alternative sentencing. However, the appellate court found that the trial court did not abuse its discretion in ordering full confinement. The decision was supported by the Attorney General and Reporter Jonathan Skrmetti, Senior Assistant Attorney General Benjamin A. Ball, District Attorney General Bryant C. Dunaway, and Assistant District Attorney General Rachel L. Bateman, who represented the state.
