Nashville Police Secure Injunction Against Nine Individuals in Downtown Entertainment District Scam Operations
The Nashville Metropolitan Police Department (MNPD) has obtained a court-ordered temporary injunction against nine individuals, including eight adults and one juvenile, prohibiting them from entering a designated 'safety zone' in the downtown entertainment district. These individuals are alleged members of the 'Krooks' gang, accused of targeting intoxicated persons and tourists by pretending to sell merchandise. Their method involves gaining control of victims' cell phones to transfer money via mobile payment apps. If confronted, the alleged gang members reportedly escalate encounters to intimidation and assault. The injunction, issued by Criminal Court Judge Steve Dozier, also forbids them from conducting similar scams elsewhere and from acting as lookouts, decoys, spotters, recruiters, or transporters for such activities.
