Unhoused Nashvillian, Tasha, Dies After Being Run Over by Semi-Truck While Sleeping
An unhoused woman, identified by friends as Tasha, died on Monday after being run over by a semi-truck at a Shell station in South Nashville. According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), the 46-year-old woman was sleeping underneath a semi-truck trailer when its driver pulled out of a parking spot around 2:30 p.m. The driver reportedly did not stop and "may not have known that the woman was run over." Friends of Tasha, including Kay and Michael Keys, mourned her death, highlighting that it is common for unhoused individuals to seek refuge and sleep in such areas, especially during extreme heat. The medical examiner's office is working to confirm her identity, and the MNPD spokesperson stated that an investigation is ongoing.
