University of Kentucky Students Gain Valuable Dairy Industry Experience Through U-DAIRE Program
Two University of Kentucky (UK) students, Ashton Croudep and Daniel Carneiro, participated in the Undergraduate Development and Internship Research Experience (U-DAIRE) program for the second consecutive year. This paid internship and training program is designed to educate students about the dairy industry. Croudep, an animal sciences major on the pre-veterinary track, and Carneiro, pursuing dual degrees in economics and finance with a minor in agricultural economics, spent two weeks at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, for leadership development. They then completed a seven-week internship at Chaney’s Dairy Barn in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The program provided them with hands-on experience, from working with cows and processing milk to making and selling ice cream, and even assisting with budgeting and financial reporting.
