Rome's multimillion-dollar cooling plaza, designed to provide relief from the heat with shade trees, misting stations, and fountains, is failing to serve its purpose. Just over a year after its completion, many of the trees have died, the water features have ceased functioning, and some benches have become too hot to sit on. This development comes as the city faces increasing temperatures, highlighting the challenges of maintaining urban infrastructure in the face of climate change.
