Ohio Farm Bureau and Partners Pack 10,000 Meals to Launch Food and Farms Month
The Ohio Farm Bureau, in collaboration with Kroger’s Columbus Division, Nationwide, America 250-Ohio, Ohio State’s College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, and over 20 other partner organizations, organized a 'Feeding Our Neighbors' event. More than 300 volunteers participated in packing 10,000 meals for central Ohio families at The Ohio State University’s Multispecies Animal Learning Center. This event marked the beginning of Ohio Food and Farms Month, an October-long celebration designed to highlight the state's food and agriculture industry. Each meal package included ingredients for a chili bowl, a jar of peanut butter, and a recipe card. Ohio First Lady Fran DeWine and Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel also joined the volunteers. The packed meals are slated for distribution to various hunger-relief organizations across central Ohio, reinforcing the commitment of Ohio agriculture to food security both locally and globally.
