Registered Republican Patrick Havas Accused of Targeting Ohio Gubernatorial Candidate Amy Acton at Campaign Event
Patrick Havas, a 38-year-old registered Republican, has been accused of charging at Amy Acton, the Democratic candidate for Ohio governor, during a campaign stop at the Canfield Fair. The incident, which occurred at the Mahoning County Democratic Party tent, involved Havas allegedly pushing his way through a crowd, knocking over multiple audience members, while recording with his cellphone. Authorities reported that Havas was found to be carrying a Taser and two pistols. He was subsequently arrested and booked on charges of disorderly conduct and two counts of assault. The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Mahoning County Sheriff's Office are investigating the incident. Acton is running against Republican Vivek Ramaswamy in the November election to succeed term-limited Republican Governor Mike DeWine.
