Ohio Department of Transportation Proposes U.S. 23-I-71 Connector Route Amid Community Concerns
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has announced its final recommended route for a proposed highway connector between U.S. 23 and Interstate 71. This project aims to improve travel between central and northwest Ohio by enhancing safety and reducing congestion along the U.S. 23 corridor. The proposed route will pass through Morrow, Delaware, and Marion counties, north of the village of Ashley. While ODOT's role is to identify the most feasible location for the highway, the decision to build it remains with the Ohio General Assembly. The project has sparked concerns among local residents about potential changes to their communities and the use of taxpayer money. ODOT has received over 2,200 public comments and is encouraging further feedback before finalizing the study.
