Islamic Relief Worldwide has announced an increase in its orphan sponsorship program pricing to $90 per month across all countries. This adjustment, the first in 20 years, is a direct response to global inflation and the significant rise in the cost of living, which has made it increasingly difficult for orphan families to afford basic necessities. The organization aims to ensure that sponsored orphans continue to receive adequate support for food, education, and other essential expenses. The program, established in 1986, supports over 80,000 orphans in nearly 26 countries, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Palestine (Gaza), Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen. Donors are paired one-to-one with an orphan, and the support extends to the entire household, covering needs such as food, rent, and utilities.
