Colorado Springs Police Respond to Violent Road Rage Incident Outside Chapel Hills Mall, Leading to Officer Assault and Arrest
A violent road rage incident occurred outside Chapel Hills Mall in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on a Saturday evening at approximately 6:45 p.m. The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported that alcohol played a role in the disturbance, which involved two vehicles. During the altercation, one of the drivers reportedly broke the front passenger window of the other party's vehicle. When officers arrived on the scene to separate the individuals, one of the drivers, identified as 28-year-old Amber Acree, became aggressive. As officers attempted to detain her, Acree allegedly assaulted one of the officers. The assaulted officer did not sustain serious injuries and was able to remain on duty. A significant detail of the incident was the presence of Acree's 2-year-old child in her car as the disturbance unfolded. A family member subsequently took the child into their care. Acree is now facing charges of assault on a peace officer following the incident.
