Columbus, Ohio, has been ranked as the fourth-cloudiest major city in the United States, according to a report by WorldAtlas. The city averages about 2,183 hours of sunshine each year, placing it among the cloudiest cities in the Great Lakes region. The report attributes the persistent cloud cover to Ohio's winter weather patterns, where cold air moving across the relatively warm Great Lakes creates overcast conditions. Despite not being located directly on a Great Lake, Columbus experiences similar weather patterns as cities like Detroit and Cleveland.
