USDA Designates 14 Pennsylvania Counties and 1 Ohio County as Natural Disaster Areas Due to Freeze

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has designated 14 counties in Pennsylvania and one contiguous county in Ohio as natural disaster areas due to a freeze event. This Secretarial natural disaster designation allows the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) to provide emergency credit to agricultural producers recovering from the natural disaster through emergency loans. These loans can be utilized for various recovery needs, including replacing essential items like equipment or livestock, reorganizing farming operations, or refinancing certain debts. The FSA will assess loan applications based on the extent of losses, available security, and repayment capability. The impacted area also includes contiguous counties in Delaware, Maryland, New York, and West Virginia. The application deadline for these emergency loans is April 12, 2027.
