Governor DeWine Signs Bill Expanding Epinephrine Options for Ohio Students
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has signed House Bill 462 into law, which broadens the types of epinephrine delivery systems students can use for severe allergic reactions in schools. Previously, Ohio law permitted students to carry and self-administer EpiPens. The new legislation expands these provisions to include FDA-approved intranasal epinephrine sprays, epinephrine auto-injectors, nasal delivery devices, and any future FDA-approved epinephrine delivery systems. State Representative Tracy Richardson announced the signing, noting that the bill was a result of advocacy from a local nurse and parent. The measure received unanimous support in both the Ohio House and Senate, aiming to provide more treatment options for students with allergies as the new school year approaches.
