John Legend and Bilt Partner to Cover Rent for 50 University Students
John Legend, in collaboration with Bilt, is launching an initiative to pay the rent for 50 university students across four institutions. The selected universities include historically Black institutions such as Morehouse College, Central State University, and Wilberforce University, alongside Legend's alma mater, the University of Pennsylvania. This effort is deeply personal for Legend, who has publicly shared his own experiences of financial struggle to pay rent during his college years, working multiple jobs to support himself. In addition to the rent payment, Bilt members will have the opportunity to win free rent through a monthly game show called 'Rent Free,' with Legend participating as the guest player for October. Students benefiting from the program will also gain access to a limited-edition 'Muse' vinyl with custom artwork, available for pre-order.
