Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Dan Ryan Expressway Hit-and-Run, Lanes Closed for Investigation
Early Friday morning, inbound lanes on the Dan Ryan Expressway in Chicago were closed for several hours following a fatal hit-and-run incident. At approximately 2:39 a.m., a pedestrian was standing outside their vehicle on the shoulder of I-94 in the northbound lanes near 47th Street when they were struck by another vehicle. The driver of the striking vehicle subsequently fled the scene. The pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where they were later pronounced dead. Illinois State Police troopers and detectives were on the scene investigating, with photos and video showing a red SUV involved in the investigation. All northbound local lanes of I-94 were shut down as part of the investigation and reopened just before 6 a.m.
