EF1 Tornado Confirmed in Brown and Adams Counties, Ohio
The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed that an EF1 tornado struck Brown and Adams counties in Ohio on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. The tornado, with peak wind speeds of 100 mph (160 km/h), lasted approximately eight minutes, from 4:16 p.m. to 4:24 p.m. EDT. The storm caused significant damage, including uprooted trees, roofs torn off buildings, and a collapsed outbuilding. In Adams County, part of a barn's roof was carried 200 yards into a crop field. The NWS classified the broader storm system as a 'derecho,' a rare event for the Greater Cincinnati area, which left over 170,000 residents without power. Emergency management agencies from both counties assisted in the damage survey. Fortunately, no fatalities or injuries were reported. (Source: Cincinnati.com, WLWT)
