Columbus Police Investigate Shooting Incident Outside Micek's Shangri-la Bar

Columbus Police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Saturday morning near Micek's Shangri-la Bar in Columbus, Nebraska. Officers responded to a report of a gun being fired at approximately 1:17 a.m. The suspect had reportedly left the scene in a black pickup truck. Authorities located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, leading to the suspect's apprehension. A firearm was recovered from inside the vehicle and taken as evidence. The incident began with a scuffle outside the bar as patrons were leaving. The suspect allegedly retrieved a handgun from a vehicle, displayed it in a threatening manner, and then fired it into the air, causing several individuals to flee the area before the suspect departed.

Jackson County Prosecutor Announces Superseding Indictment in Chiefs Super Bowl Parade Shooting

Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson has announced a superseding indictment against Lyndell Mays, one of the alleged shooters in the 2024 Chiefs Super Bowl Parade shooting. The grand jury found probable cause to proceed with a revised and updated set of charges. The original charges of 2nd Degree Felony Murder, two counts of Armed Criminal Action, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon remain in place. Additionally, the superseding indictment adds seven counts of 2nd Degree Assault and seven counts of 1st Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Each of the endangering counts is classified as a class B felony, carrying a potential sentence of five to 15 years in prison. The assault counts are class D felonies, each carrying one to seven years. Prosecutor Johnson emphasized the commitment to pursuing justice for all individuals harmed, including Lisa Lopez-Galvan, who lost her life in the incident.
