Maine Department of Agriculture Invites Students to Agriculture Policy Day at Legislature
The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, in collaboration with the Maine Department of Education, FFA, and the University of Maine Cooperative Extension 4-H, is inviting students to apply for the Agriculture Policy Day at the Legislature. Scheduled for March 25, 2026, at the State House in Augusta, this event offers students a unique opportunity to gain insights into the legislative process concerning agriculture policy in Maine. Participants will tour the Capitol, engage with legislators and agricultural leaders, and observe the workings of the Legislature’s Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee. The program also includes virtual sessions aimed at enhancing skills in advocacy, civic engagement, and agricultural policy. The event aligns with National Agriculture Day and Maine Agriculture Day, where the agricultural community gathers to celebrate in the Hall of Flags at the State House. Applications are open until March 1, 2026.
