TIM Group's Sparkle Expands Network with New Point of Presence in Chile
TIM Group's global operator, Sparkle, has announced the expansion of its network in Chile by launching a third point of presence (PoP) in Santiago. This development marks Sparkle's fourth PoP in the country. The new node is hosted by Ascenty, a Latin American data center operator, which is a joint venture between Digital Realty and Brookfield Infrastructure Partners. The Santiago PoP is equipped with a 400GBE-enabled router for IP transit services and is fully integrated with Sparkle's global Tier-1 IP backbone, Seabone. This expansion aims to provide enhanced access capacity and IP transit services to network operators, ISPs, OTTs, content delivery networks, and application providers. Additionally, it offers solutions like DDoS protection and virtual access to internet exchange points (IXPs) without requiring investment in proprietary infrastructure. The PoP also connects to terrestrial and subsea fiber networks, ensuring diversified routes between South and North America for full redundancy.
