Scottish Couple Faces New Criminal Group Charge in Sydney Ketamine Seizure Case
Demi McDaid, 23, and Jack Farrelly, 30, an Edinburgh couple, have been hit with a new charge of participating in a criminal group contributing to criminal activity. This development follows their appearance before Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court. The couple was initially arrested in late June at a Sydney hotel after police allegedly discovered 105kg of ketamine in a car parked at the accommodation. They already face charges of supplying a prohibited drug and supplying a prohibited drug in a large commercial quantity. Authorities claim the pair traveled to Australia specifically to engage in the distribution and supply of significant quantities of prohibited drugs. In addition to the ketamine found in the car, police reportedly seized mobile phones, 2000 Australian dollars, and documents described as drug ledgers at the hotel. Earlier, detectives also allegedly found 2kg of ketamine, scales, gloves, and other drug paraphernalia at a short-term rental unit in Artarmon, Sydney.
