European Leaders Meet in London Amid Russian Drone Strikes in Ukraine
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer hosted a meeting in London with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The discussions focused on Europe's role in peace negotiations to end the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. This meeting follows a recent Russian drone strike that killed three people at a bus stop in southeastern Ukraine and damaged a nuclear storage site near Chernobyl. The U.K., France, and Germany, known as the E3 group, have been strong supporters of Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022. The leaders discussed further support for Ukraine, including enhancing air defenses. The International Atomic Energy Agency expressed concern over the attack on the nuclear site, emphasizing the potential risks due to the large amounts of nuclear material stored there.
