Wildfires Force Mass Evacuations in Bordeaux and Madrid Suburbs
Wildfires have prompted evacuation orders in the suburbs of Bordeaux, France, and Madrid, Spain, as flames continue to devastate southern Europe. In Bordeaux, French authorities have evacuated residents from Le Haillan, Eysines, and Mérignac due to an unprecedented wildfire that has burned approximately 32,700 hectares. The French government has requested assistance from the European Union, with firefighting resources being sent from several countries. In Spain, fires in the Madrid area and the province of Ávila have led to the evacuation of tens of thousands of people. The Spanish government has declared a national emergency, with efforts focused on safeguarding lives and protecting communities.
