Back-to-back heat waves across the United States are straining electricity grids as demand surges due to high temperatures and the growing energy needs of data centers and factories. Regional transmission operators (RTOs) like PJM Interconnection and the Southwest Power Pool have issued emergency alerts, highlighting concerns about grid reliability. Temperatures have reached 100°F (38°C) or higher in many areas, with humidity exacerbating the heat's impact.
