US and Allies Warn of Chinese Espionage via LinkedIn Targeting Sensitive Personnel
The United States, along with its 'Five Eyes' intelligence partners, has issued a joint warning about Chinese espionage activities targeting government and military personnel through professional networking sites like LinkedIn. According to a statement by the FBI and intelligence agencies from the UK, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, Chinese military intelligence services are using these platforms to recruit individuals with access to classified or privileged information. The espionage efforts are reportedly focused on individuals with security clearances, particularly those in foreign affairs, security, and intelligence sectors, as well as military personnel stationed in the Asia-Pacific region. The Chinese embassy in the UK has denied these allegations, labeling them as 'entirely fabricated' and 'malicious slander.'
