Congresswoman Frederica Wilson Calls for Federal Investigation into Nolan Wells' Death
Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson (D-Fla.) has publicly called for a "prompt and exhaustive" federal investigation into the death of 18-year-old Nolan Wells. Wells' mysterious death has garnered national attention, particularly after both a private autopsy, funded by former football player Colin Kaepernick, and the official state autopsy concluded his cause and manner of death were "undetermined." The state autopsy also noted evidence of injury on the back of Wells' head, though it could not determine how it occurred. This call for federal intervention follows a Mississippi grand jury's decision on September 21 to not bring charges in the case, despite inconsistencies in witness testimonies, suspicions of deleted text messages, and the fact that one of Wells' friends possessed his phone after his disappearance.
