Federal Judge Overturns President Trump's Executive Order Blocking Wind Energy Projects
A federal judge has invalidated President Donald Trump's executive order that aimed to block wind energy projects on federal lands and waters. The order, issued on January 20, was deemed 'arbitrary and capricious' by Judge Patti Saris of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. The ruling came after a coalition of 17 state attorneys general, led by New York Attorney General Letitia James, challenged the order. The coalition argued that the order unlawfully halted leasing and permitting for wind energy projects, jeopardizing investments and state economies. Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell praised the decision as a victory for renewable energy and green jobs.
