Leonardo DiCaprio's Advocacy Halts Chilean Power Project to Protect Endangered Frog
Leonardo DiCaprio has successfully influenced the Chilean government to suspend an environmental review session for a proposed power line project that threatens the habitat of the critically endangered Pehuenche spiny-chest frog. The project, known as the Los Cóndores-Río Diamante line, aims to connect the electrical grids of Chile and Argentina. DiCaprio, a well-known environmental activist, used his social media platform to highlight the risk posed to the frog, which has fewer than 1,000 individuals remaining in the wild. The Chilean Environmental Evaluation Service (SEA) responded by halting the review process, acknowledging the potential threat to the frog's only known habitat in the Andes.
