Pima County Sheriff's Department Confirms Human Remains in Tucson Unrelated to Nancy Guthrie Disappearance
On August 17, the Pima County Sheriff's Department announced the discovery of human remains in a desert area near West Ajo Way and South La Cholla Boulevard, outside of Tucson. The county's search-and-rescue team responded to the reports. Following an initial assessment, the Sheriff's Department explicitly stated via a post on X that there is "no indication they are connected to the Nancy Guthrie investigation." The remains appeared to have been in their location "for an extended period of time." Nancy Guthrie, mother of 'Today' show host Savannah Guthrie, was last seen on January 31 at her home in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood, north of Tucson. Her abduction case, which gained national attention, remains unsolved, and a ransom note claiming her death was released by the Sheriff's Department in July.
